This morning the caravan gods must have been speaking to the weather gods because, by the time we got up, the rain had stopped. So we were able to hitch up and get going in the dry. Although we had drizzling rain most of the way to Brisbane, it was fine again when we got to Lennox Head and once again we were able to unhitch and set up in the dry. As a point of interest, we heard that last weekend Tewantin received 4 inches of rain and this weekend 3 inches. It is raining at the moment here in Lennox Head and the forecast is for cloudy and rainy weather for the rest of the week. Great !!
We had a marvellous trip down today. 330 kms and motorway almost all the way, what bliss! The traffic was very heavy, particularly between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. But the multi-lane motorway enabled us to sit on 93 kph most of the time.
We are very pleased with the caravan park in which we are staying for the next week. It is the Big 4 Ballina Heads Leisure Park, which actually is in Skennar's Head which is just 4 kms south of Lennox Head. It looks to be a very new park. It is quite large and the sites are of a good size. It has solar-heated pool and spa.
It has very nice trees and gardens that shade and divide individual sites. The amenities block is first class and appears to be either quite new or recently renovated. I haven't had time to take any photos of the park. Perhaps tomorrow. However, we did take some of the beach closest to the park, boulder beach, and also some of Lennox Head itself. Boulder Beach is well named and would not look out of place in England. It is good only for surfing and watching the waves from the car park. Anyway, here are some photos. Make the most of the them, they may be the only ones we get with the sun shining.
