First things first. We would like to give our condolences to the family of Phil Walsh and to the Adelaide Crows AFL club; a very sad day.
We noticed that it is now snowing in the southern Australian high country. Well, I can tell you it is definitely not snowing in Darwin. We wondered what we had struck when we arrived last Wednesday. But we are now acclimatising well.
We always knew that a 32 degree day here would feel very different to a similar day in Canberra with its very low humidity. However, knowing it and experiencing it are two different matters. But we have now learned to cope, in fact there is a lot about it that we have come to enjoy.
There is nothing like getting up early and then spending a couple of hours doing nothing but sitting in the shade of the caravan awning being cooled by a gentle trade wind as it ruffles the sun-dappled leaves of the lush tropical vegetation that surrounds us. Doing this in the knowledge, that while we are doing this, the temperature in Canberra is -6.
Certainly, it gets rather warm and sticky as the afternoon progresses. However, we have two remedies for this. This is when we adjourn to the pool and once again relax in the shade, while perhaps sipping on an iced tonic water. Alternatively, you can do what we did this afternoon and spend a couple of hours in an air-conditioned shopping centre.
We have some good news to report; we have air conditioning in the car once again, yeah!!
I have summoned up enough energy to take a few photos around the caravan park. Hope you like them.
