Day 1. Canberra to Cowra

2 July 2014

I know that I previously said that we would be leaving on 3 July. However, we were ready a day early so we have hit the open road.  We left Canberra this morning.  The outside temperature was 2 degrees and at 10.00 am the fog still had not lifted.  What a perfect time to head north.

We had a very uneventful and pleasant 3 hr drive to Cowra.  By the time we got to Yass the fog had lifted and the sun had made an appearance by the time we got to Boorowa.

I am always struck by the beauty of the Lachlan Valley and today was no exception.  We travelled through gently undulating countryside.  The paddocks were lush green and populated by fat brown cattle and some very woolly sheep.

Once we reached Cowra we booked in to the van park on the river.  It has entirely lived up to our expectations.  We are on a big site backing onto the Lachlan River.  We got here about 2.15 and after a quick setup went for a walk through the main street and, of course, enjoyed a coffee.

That's about it for today.  Here are some photos; hope you like them.
