We are sitting in the shade outside the caravan. A gentle south easterly breeze ruffles the leaves in the green canopy above us. As I look to my front I see through the trees, the sun shining on a scintillating sea and small waves breaking on the broad sandy beach below our van. Gradually, I doze off to the sound of breaking waves and the rush of tyres on the road behind us. This is the life, this is the real thing (where I have heard those words before). This is the way to spend July.
Actually, we did a bit more than chill out today, but not much more. We took our time getting up and having a leisurely breakfast. Then we went for a gentle stroll on the beach before spending a little bit of time in the sun. That has been about all we did today.
Actually, I did do one other thing. In a previous blog I gave myself the task of finding out the name of the island just off Ellis Beach. Well, I put in some real effort and found out the answer. I went up to the caravan park office and asked the bloke behind the desk. Now you have to do some research and find out the answer for yourselves. To help you I have attached a photograph of the island. The clue is that the answer lies in the eye of the beholder. If that is not enough, look at it twice. Have fun.
Tomorrow, we are off the Cooktown, so the next blog may be done after our return on Wednesday.

Is it Double Island? By the way apparently there is a clothing optional beach at the southern end of Ellis Beach!!!!
