Hullo everyone,
Winter is close at hand in Canberra.
The temperature is dropping steadily. The nights are frosty and the
days bright and sunny. Already, the snow is starting to fall on the
mountains. It is time to head north. Our departure date is tomorrow, May 20, and our first stop will be Holbrook in southern New South Wales.
This year, we intend to travel north
through the centre of Australia. This means that we must first travel
south to the Murray River. We will then travel west and north along the
river to Mildura in Victoria. From there, we will go through Burra to
Port Augusta in South Australia and from there head north to Darwin. Of
course, we will be making a few side trips along the way. After spending
3 weeks in Darwin, we will head south again until we reach Three Ways Road
House where we will turn left and drive through Western Queensland, stopping at
places such as Barkly Downs, and Mount Isa. Once we reach Emerald we turn
south and begin the long trek home with a little side trip to Mudgee in New
South Wales.
So, stay tuned.
