Now that the "dust has settled", I have had time to take out some trip statistics.
We were away from Canberra for 66 days.
We travelled a total of 8480 kms of which we travelled 6960 kms pulling the caravan.
Our total driving time was 42.5 hours.
Our average fuel consumption while towing the caravan was 11.6 litres per 100 kms. It was about 6.5 litres per 100 kms while travelling without the van.
Where possible, we travelled at a speed of between 90 and 95 kph, according to the GPS, while towing. We used the cruise control whenever possible and on these occasions the controller was set to 93 kph. This was about 98 kph on the car's speedo.
The average cost of diesel fuel was $1.60 per litre. The highest price we paid was $1.74 at Hughenden.
